About the Smiths…
Our missionary journey began in 1985 when we left secular jobs and took our two children to minister as volunteers in the Philippines for 14 months. It was during that time that God really spoke to our heart about missions.
We returned to the States to receive ministerial credentials and our appointment as missionaries with the Assemblies of God. It was an early morning phone call from one of the field directors that first brought the country of Haiti to our attention. When asked if we would consider going to the nation of Haiti and ministering to the children, we knew that was the answer to the prayers we had been praying.
After 11 months of being submerged in trying to learn French at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, we headed for Haiti, arriving in May 1990. There we hired a tutor to teach us the fun language of creole…fun in that there are no verb conjugations to boggle my mind.
We minister to the children of Haiti through Latin America ChildCare, providing a Christian education to children in six schools, three in Port-au-Prince and three in the province. Bill has also served as an administrator at the international Christian school, Quisqueya Christian School. It ministers to missionary children and children of the Haitian business community.
Bill has been named as director of the Assembly of God Bible School by the newly elected national church leadership. The school has not been functioning for several years but, with great determination and hope, it will be reopening in October 2008.

I really enjoyed reading everything on your web site. I’m looking forward to meeting you guys one day in Haiti where we have factories making uniforms.
Convoy of Hope recently picked up 48,000 pcs of clothing at our factory and specfically ask if some could be sent to Haiti. Hopefully you guys are working with Convoy and will see some of those goods.

I hope this gets to the missionaries in Haiti. I am a minister of the gospel in the states and I know some of the hard situation in Haiti as far as food is concerned. I just want to ask if you would keep me updated on the situation there?

I was thrilled to find this blog! I have been thinking about you guys, and wondering what all was happening in your ministry throughout the time of those four storms. I will make sure to look back on this site to see how God is using you. I hope to someday meet you guys in Haiti. Just seeing all the pictures you posted rekindles a desire to continue to pray for you and the country of Haiti!
Blessings,
